Dates: April 14 – April 19
General Information: Crank by day – and by night. Bishop is a place to have your cake and eat it too. By day you can check out the 11 bouldering areas including, the Peaboy Boulders, the Happy Boulders, and the Rim. They offer hard climbs, board type problems and more. The rock is sharp and pockety volcanic granite. By night you can let your muscles relax in the hot springs, kick back in a coffee shop, mellow out at the cinema or pig out at a restaurant. No worries, you’ll burn it off the next day.
Decision:After Yosemite with its big walls requiring huge amount of gear, commitment, and balls, we need to “lighten up” (literally and figuratively). Bouldering in the areas covered in many magazines in numerous videos sounds like a sure bet and good break from trad climbing and gear.
Time: 5 days – will be long enough to shred our tips on the sharp holds of Bishop.
Classics: Recommended problems would be 'High Plains Drifter' V8, 'Soul Slinger' V9, 'Iron Man Traverse' V4 and 'Stained Glass' V10 at the Peabodys. 'Lounge Lizards' V11, 'Golden Child' V8 and 'Cayla' V7 at the Druid Stones. 'Jedi Mind Tricks' V3 and anything else at the Lydia Boulders (a.k.a. The Pollen Grains).' Toxic Avenger' V10, 'The Hulk' V6,'My Heart Grew Wings Under Desert Skies' V4 and 'Cholos' V9 at the Happy Boulders.
