GET OFF MY FACE MOTHERF@#$ER!!! Bugaboos AB Red Rock Canyon NV El Potrero Chico NL Canadian Rockies Sunrise in Toronto Joshua Tree

Dates: Feb 2 – Feb 6

General Information: “Are you ready to pay your 3 bucks and boulder till your tips bleed. Where else can friction grab up endless slabs, crimp out solid roofs, slap for that devious sloper, and finish the day with a cold one at the restaurant just yards from the boulders? This is easily the BEST boulderfield in the Southeast, with acres and acres of high quality boulders packed right next to each other. It is only a short drive from the interstate. There is a campground right next to the boulders. The boulders here are bullet-hard sandstone, shaped into unusual formations by wind and especially water (the infamous WATERGROOVE). Horse Pens 40 is the premier bouldering destination for the Deep South.”

Decision:After reading the above description on one of the climbing websites I had to include this on the itinerary, of course it being on the way to Potrero and the website listing winter as its best season, helped me to make up my mind.

Time:So far I’ve devoted 3 nights to this place just to rest from the drive and to have fun bouldering.

Afterthought: Hp 40 definitely requires a different style of climbing, you have to be strong on sloppers, but don't forget about crimpers pinches and everything else... I definitely would like to come back to this area sometime in the future and spend more time cranking...

Problems sent: Lucky Charms V2 (flash), Man with Slow Hand V4 (flash), Genesis V3 (Flash), Orca V3, Spook Eye V3 (flash), The Crown V3 (flash), Wa Wa Wa V2, Bum Boy V4 (flash), Centerpede V5, Slag V5.
