Dates: April 20 – May 1
General Information : Red Rocks are recognized as being one of the finest sandstone destinations in the world. It has something for everyone “from bouldering in Calico Basin to the sport climbing on such classics as The Gift and Stratocaster Direct to the massive multi-pitching on Epinephrine and Levitation 29.”
Decision: Now here is the area that we can do anything: trad, sport, bouldering. But, the main reason for including Red Rock as a stop on our road trip, is to get stronger which we can do by climbing many classic sport routes, plus, as with many places on this trip Reed Rocks is considered to be a classic destination. The only hesitation I had is the season – it might be too hot for the classic sport climbing areas that are facing south; but I’m sure we can find something to climb.
Time: 11 days – to get us strong enough for the rest of the trip.
Classics: too many to put here
